Winchester School:
The new school year kicked off to a good start for 271 young pupils
at a Northamptonshire Prep School, with the completion of a new quartz-heated
indoor games hall.
Equipped with eight Apollo quartz heaters from leading UK manufacturers,
Tansun Ltd, the hall has been designed to ensure young athletes at
Winchester House Prep School in Brackley can keep fit even on the
coldest of days.
Consulting engineers Tunnicliffe Wall Associates specified the heaters
because of their low capital costs and their ability to provide instant
heat whenever it is needed.
Roger Tunnicliffe explained: "Tansun's heaters are ideal for this
sort of application - providing heat in a large area which is not
in constant use." For school bursar Barrie Vearnacombe the heaters
were also the answer to his need to keep within tight building budgets.
He said: " The hall itself is built to high insulation standards so
we do not expect to have to use them that often. The fact that they
can provide instant heat over short periods of time does, however,
mean that we will be able make full use of the hall throughout the
winter months."
