Police Air Support Unit:
Large areas such as aircraft hangars can be a problem to heat. The
Leicestershire Air Support Unit came across this problem when their
base became operational back in 1994. The heat needed to be directed
into certain areas of the hangar to make sure that early morning frost
and ice could be dealt with quickly.
With a Tansun dedicated control system and Apollo heaters, heat could
be directed onto the helicopter to allow vital defrosting to take
place before the pilot arrived.
Inspector Mick Dunn says "Everyone, especially the pilots, enjoy the
facility, they have to leave the comfort of their adjacent offices
in the morning to check everything is OK. With Quartz Heating they
can stay warm while they are doing so."
